Five people dead in Abbotsford within 9 hours due to Overdose

Paramedics attend to an overdose patient after three doses of Narcan fail to revive him.
Abbotsford first responders attended dozens of calls about residents overdosing on drugs. Five of those were fatal. Police say while overdoses have become normal in the city, it is shocking to see so many die so quickly. Cops believe the fatalities are linked to fentanyl or carfentanil, but won’t know for sure until toxicology exams are completed. Interior Health is urging extreme caution for Kamloops and Kelowna residents. There were 60 overdose deaths in Kelowna to August 31st. The city carries the highest rate of hospitalization for opioids in Canada.

Island Health also issued a warning for Vancouver Island after a spike in overdoses there.
