Quebec Cocaine Smuggler Lagace pulls 7.5 years

A Quebec woman who pleaded guilty to importing 95 kilograms of cocaine with an estimated value of $30.5 million into Australia was sentenced to seven-and-a-half years behind bars. Isabelle Lagace gained international notoriety when social media posts documenting her seven-week luxury cruise vacation went viral after her arrest.

Authorities said she and two other Quebecers boarded the MS Sea Princess in England and were arrested when the ship finally docked in Sydney in August 2016.

The two women whose tickets cost $20,000 each had published numerous photos of themselves partying in New York City, mountain biking in Peru and drinking coconut milk in French Polynesia.
Arrested along with her were Melina Roberge, 24 and Andre Jorge Tamine who celebrated his 64th birthday in custody. Roberge and Lagace, 28, travelled round the world while allegedly carrying “commercial quantities” of cocaine before being detained in Sydney. Authorities also arrested several more men that were on the cruise ship along with the original three Canadians.
