Scotland Yard targeting Albanian traffickers in London

UK police say Albanian gangs are smuggling huge quantities of drugs into the UK using the Channel Tunnel and ferries. Officials fear the soaring trade is fuelling violence among street dealers. Criminals are resorting to complex ways of hiding cocaine in cars and trucks. Scotland Yard smashed one of the biggest drugs organizations to target the UK. Albanian kingpin Klodjan Copja, 30, was jailed for 17 years in August after pleading guilty to drug offences.
Copja ran a huge cocaine supply network for more than three years with links to British crime groups across the UK. Police seized 200 kilos of cocaine, more than £500,000 cash, and arrested 20 couriers and lieutenants associated with Copja.

Police believe Copja was just one of a series of Albanian drug dealers flooding the UK with drugs. The amount of cocaine seized by Border Force and police officers surged by a third in the past year to 5,516 kg.
