John Chapman, 41, entered a no contest plea to three charges in an indictment: possession of heroin, possession of cocaine and trafficking in cocaine. The third charge was merged with the first two since it involved the same drug. Consecutive sentences were handed down with the maximum punishment on both counts. The case is the first of heroin laced with carfentanil found by a Belmont County deputy in Bellaire. At the time, authorities didn't know Chapman had transported carfentanil-laced heroin into the county. That discovery was made months later after the drugs underwent testing. |
