Corleone tax office makes Italian mafia families an offer they can’t refuse

Corleone, the historical Sicilian stronghold of the mafia, is celebrating a decisive victory for law and order after Mob families finally agreed to pay their rubbish tax. Ninetta Bagarella, the widow of mafia killer Salvatore Riina, lined up to pay €600 in back taxes after refusing repeated requests to settle her dues. The widow of Corleone’s “boss of bosses” Bernardo Provenzano, has also come clean, handing over €1,100 to have her refuse collected.
