![]() | Johnny “Downtown Johnny” Romo, a former sergeant-at-arms for the Bandidos’ national chapter, stuck by his testimony that former national vice president John Xavier Portillo relayed orders from then-national president Jeffrey Fay Pike to kill Anthony W. Benesh III. Romo, 47 said he and his brother were part of a crew that went in separate cars to Austin to commit the killing in March 2006. The Romos were among four Bandidos who pleaded guilty in September to Benesh’s murder and await sentencing. The slaying is just one in a string of racketeering crimes by the Bandidos that prosecutors allege Pike and Portillo, who was vice president from 2013 until January 2016, directed, aided, or sanctioned. | ![]() |
