Genovese soldier Frank Giovinco convicted of racketeering, extortion

Prosecutors say Giovinco and others committed “a wide range of crimes to enrich themselves and the Genovese Crime Family, including multiple acts of extortion, honest services fraud, and bribery.” Giovinco extorted a financial adviser and union official for a cut of commissions made on union investments. Audio recordings captured Giovinco planning to “rattle the cage” of a victim, and to have the other’s “feet held to the fire.”

The call was recorded by Vincent Fyfe, a union official-turned mob informant. Fyfe got the union job through his grandfather, the Genovese mobster Vincent Gigante.
Giovinco also extorted 'tribute' payments.
