Trucker who imported 30kg of cocaine pulls 10 years

A trucker who couldn’t help snorting the product as he hauled a multi-million cocaine shipment was sentenced in Windsor to a 10-year prison term. Manpreet Dhatt might have received a shorter stretch were it not for the fact he was high on coke while he drove his heavy commercial rig on the highway. CBSA officers discovered 30.2 kg of 94% pure cocaine mixed in with a load of California oranges after Dhatt crossed the Ambassador Bridge into Canada on Dec. 27, 2016. Cops say the load could have been worth $4.8m.
Dhatt received enhanced credit for time spent in pre-sentence custody, deducting two years and 44 days from his prison term, leaving him with seven years and 321 days. He will almost certainly be deported when his sentence expires.
