B.C. prison outbreak serious, 48 infected with COVID-19 in Mission

The Covid-19 outbreak at the Federal medium-security Mission Institution has grown to 48 cases, including seven people in hospital. No other prison in the country has more cases. Six guards have been sickened. There are 155 corrections officers working at the Mission Institution. It has a capacity for 216 inmates in medium security and 324 at its minimum security wing.

Corrections has raised the possibility of early release for non-violent inmates amid the outbreak.
