Former councillor of the Squamish Nation, Krisandra Jacobs, 57, has been found guilty of defrauding the nation out of $1m and using it for her own purposes. She was found guilty of fraud and theft. Between April 2011 and May 2014, Jacobs and elected band manager Glen Newman were in charge of an emergency fund meant as a last resort for Nation members in need. | Jacobs requested and received 422 cheques during the time of her scheme. Jacobs regularly attended casinos shortly after cheques were deposited. |
