Locals in Burnaby are arming themselves with helmets and umbrellas against a silent menace terrorizing a Burnaby park. Users of Squint Lake Park at the foot of Burnaby Mountain have been targeted for silent airborne attacks by a mother owl. The fowl has staked out a corner of the park and to venture through it is to incur her significant wrath. Citizens complaining about the abuse cried to the province’s conservation officers. They focus on animals that are deadly. “They do not attend owl interactions” Experts say the bird is a barred owl and its aggressive behaviour will taper off. “They have young right now; they have owlets, so they’re being defensive,” The owlets are probably learning to fly nearby. Crossing a grouchy mother is never a good idea. |
