 | ATACMS destroyed 9 helicopters at Russian bases in Ukraine. Bases were hit using an early MGM-140A variant of ATACMS - a shorter-range version of the weapon with a striking distance of 100 miles. Ukraine said targets were hit in Berdyansk and Luhansk.
Dozens of Russian troops were killed or injured in the operation, it added.
"They have performed very accurately. ATACMS have proven themselves," Zelensky said. The original MGM-140A model of the ATACMS employs INS guidance, giving an accuracy within 50 meters. Subsequent models also utilize GPS to improve their accuracy to less than 10 meters. Unit cost is about $1.4m. | |
