Blast from the past – Quebec HA sue

It’s 2019 and the Hells Angels have filed $84,930,000 in lawsuits against the Quebec government over their treatment in Operation SharQc. New legal claims were in the works to push the number over $100m.

The plaintiffs – 19 of whom pleaded guilty to conspiracy to murder – claimed compensation for ‘severe’ abuse. Most of the 21 sought $8,000 to $10,000 for each day they spent in jail. Among other things they claimed they lived in “unhealthy” conditions in the “presence of vermin” and suffered from stress. HA Daniel Beaulieu apparently suffered the most. He was released from charges of conspiracy to murder in 2015 and led the charge with a $16 million claim.

In 2021 government lawyers announced their intention to question each of the bikers for up to 5 hours in connection with the evidence and facts relating to the SharQc case. The bikers, realizing they were being set up again, refused, arguing that the exercise would be too long and pointless, and that the evidence would be “so irrelevant that it would be abusive.” The Quebec appeal court disagreed.

There appears to be no further news on the biker’s multi-millions in claims of heinous abuse.
