Four, including Arsh Dala’s father Charanjit Singh, were acquitted in a murder case in Bathind, Punjab. Witnesses recanted and the killers walked, a common occurence in India. Harjinder Singh, also known as Mela, was killed outside his shop Oct 28, 2023. Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu and slain rapper Sidhu Moosewala’s father, Balkaur Singh, were present. Without witnesses, the prosecution wasn’t able to prove its case.
Kamal Kaur, real name Kanchan Kumaria, was a Punjabi Instagram influencer found dead in a car in June. She had received threats from KTF terrorist Arsh Dalla last fall. Kaur’s body was discovered in a car near Adesh Medical University in Bathinda on June 11, 2025. She had been strangled. The discovery was made after locals complained of a foul smell emanating from the parked car. Kamal Kaur was known for her funny social media videos. She faced criticism from zealots for using foul language.
Kaur had received threats from Canada-based gangster Arsh Dalla (Arshdeep Singh Gill) last year for posting “inapproporiate” content. In an audio recording reported by News18 Punjab in October 2024, Arsh Dalla said that Kamal Kaur spreads filth on social media. He then threatened to kill one of her family members unless she removed her videos. Amritpal Singh Mehron is wanted in the murder.
Amritpal Singh Mehron said he will not allow “obscenity and vulgarity” in Punjab. In a video message from his verified Instagram account, Mehron, a Nihang Sikh, told social media influencers from Punjab to delete “vulgar content” from their accounts. “Do it by tonight or you will find me nearby.”

“Khalsa never attacks women, but when a woman targets our Takhts and mocks Sikh values, she cannot be spared,” Mehron said. The Nihang order of Sikhs are known for their distinctive blue attire and adherence to a strict code of conduct. The Nihang (also spelt as Nihung lit. “Crocodiles”) or Akali (lit. “Immortals”), also known as Dal Khalsa, is an armed Sikh warrior order.
