On April 6, 2022 Buena Park cops busted Edgar Alfonso Lamas, 36, and Carlos Raygozaparedes, 53, and recovered 21 pounds of fentanyl pills, 821 pounds of methamphetamine and 190 pounds of cocaine. It was the biggest drug bust in 16 years in Orange County.

Carlos Raygozaparedes and Edgar Alfonso Lamas were busted with enough fentanyl to kill 4.7m people. They faced a maximum sentence of 37 years in jail if convicted on all charges. The two pled not guilty and remained in custody on a $5 million bail. The case was mired in proceedural delays. At one point it was suggested one or both had turned rat. Nothing has been heard since. Carlos Raygozaparedes was entitled a janitor at the Sandher family restaurant in Newport Beach. (Since sold) Gurcharan ‘Gogy’ Sandher ran the restaurant with wife Baljeet.

Sinaloa Cartel operative Raygozaparedes appeared in CFSEU operation ‘Operation Valley Cloak’. He was called by Gurtaj Singh Sandher multiple times and was recorded near the International border 3 times in fall of 2018.
“At 15:00 PDT the first helicopter, the decoy, landed on a Sandher property near the airport. Three phone calls were placed: at 08:05:32 PDT, a call was placed to Brothers Keeper gangster Amandeep Singh Kang from Swainson Road. Another call was placed at 12:14:51 PDT to Carlos Raygozaparedes, a Sinaloa Cartel operative, who held the title of janitor at Saagar Fine Cuisine of India in Newport Beach. “

Its been rumoured the US is nearing completion of a sprawling RICO case targeting the Sandher Crime Family. There has long been frustration in America with the RCMP’s wholesale inability to bust the Sandhers. Speculation says any RICO case would involve one the largest busts ever seen in California, and that means the silence on Carlos Raygozaparedes is becoming deafening.
