Opulence Education Group - Gurinder Singh Bhatti - update II

Canada welcomed those charged of immigration fraud in India to not only own private career colleges in Alberta and Ontario, but also partner with public colleges to recruit and profit from international students from India. Bhavnoor Singh Bedi is owner of CIOT Calgary - Portage College and overseas partner of Seneca College and Canadore College in Ontario. Many 'students' are being denied post-graduate work permits.
Gurinder Singh Bhatti - Owner of Academy of Learning. (recently flagged in relation to OSAP grants fraud) Both men were charged with forgery and fraud in 2013 while getting caught with possession of client passports.

Bhavnoor Singh Bedi and Portage College face a mountain of allegations related to bogus immigration and like others are banned from OSAP grants.
Gurinder Singh Bhatti hit the news 2 weeks ago after counsel for his real-estate firm, GB Realty, filed a criminal defamation complaint against social media influencers and journalists over posts linking his group to student grant fraud in Canada.
It was filed by advocate Paras Sharma on behalf of GB Realty at the Cyber Crime Police Station in Sector 79, SAS Nagar (Mohali), Punjab. The firm targeted unidentified individuals, social media influencers, bloggers, and Canadian/Indian journalists.

Two career colleges under the Ontario government’s microscope benefited greatly when more than half of the thousands of student financial aid applications last year came from a single IP address. Ontario drastically reduced the amount of OSAP grants that students at universities and publicly funded colleges could receive as the program faced steeply rising costs. Those costs were due to a small number of career colleges. Between 2023-24 and 2024-25, the amount of provincial OSAP grants to career colleges nearly doubled to $1b.

The theft of $219m in funding through Ontario’s Student Assistance Program (OSAP) is in the spotlight. The Ontario government placed a complete pause on all OSAP disbursements to private career colleges while a forensic audit by KPMG and investigations by the OPP are underway.
The Academy of Learning operates as franchises but the three schools barred from OSAP share a parent company, Opulence Education Group.

"Gurinder Bhatti is an Indian-born global entrepreneur and motivational speaker born on October 4, 1982, in Jama Rai near Amritsar, Punjab."
Bhatti's campuses in Toronto on Bay Street and in North York, and one in Brampton East, accounted for one-fifth of that spending. His three schools were among six that in May the province made ineligible for OSAP.
Gurinder Singh Bhatti is co-founder and Chairman/Director. He also leads Optas Group and is associated with networks like ESS Global. Puneet Khanna is co-founder and director, who also serves as Co-founder and CEO of Optas Group.

The Academy of Learning argued in an earlier letter to the ministry that shared IP addresses proved nothing and may be due to multiple people living at the same address.
There were 6,001 OSAP applications from students at the Brampton East campus for the 2025-26 year and 3,136 of them — 52% came from a single IP address. Five more IP addresses were responsible for 100 or more applications.

At the North York campus, 3,460 out of 6,070 OSAP applications, 57% came from a single IP address. Two other IP addresses were responsible for another 255 applications. The Bay campus saw 6,966 OSAP applications, with 1,736 — 25% — coming from a single IP address. Five other IP addresses submitted 100 or more applications.
GB Realty is a real estate development venture founded in 2024 by Gurinder Singh Bhatti’s Optas Group. Based in the Chandigarh Tricity, the company is led by Gurinder Singh Bhatti with Puneet Khanna.
