Emile-Haim Benamor - 7 killed in Old Montreal fire - update V

Convicted killer Denis Bégin was on the lam when the fire that killed seven people in Old Montreal was set in March. He admitted he was at the crime scene minutes before the blaze began. Bégin, 63, walked away from a minimum-security penitentiary in 2019 while serving time for a 1993 murder. He was arrested in May and returned to prison. The fire in March that killed seven is being investigated as arson. In a video, Bégin is seen going into the building and then coming out five minutes later. The fire is visible in the video shortly after. Denis Bégin's motive isn't clear. He is negotiating with cops for a reduced sentence. Emile-Haim Benamor is suing the City of Montreal for $7.5m claiming it didn't send enough firefighters.

The building where 7 died in March 2023 had many fire code violations between 2009 and 2018, including blocked and “dead-end” secondary exits on the second and third floors and a non-compliant fire alarm system. Inspectors contacted owner Emile Benamor, who refused to comply.
Inspectors visited the building at the corner of Place d’Youville and du Port St. many times to have the fire code violations corrected. Dozens of Airbnb rentals were being operated by Emile-Haim Benamor. Cleaners reported that rats, mice, bed bugs and electrical problems plagued the building.
Randy Sears lost his son Nathan, 35, in the fire on March 16 in Place d'Youville. Nathan Sears was passing through Montreal and rented accommodation in the building through Tarik Hassan and Airbnb.

Sears is suing Tarik Hassan, Airbnb, and owner Emile-Haim Benamor for $22m.

The Montreal Gazette is reporting that multiple complaints were suppressed by Airbnb. One woman complained about windows nailed shut, no ventilation and blocked emergency exits. “My heart sunk so completely,” she said. “I felt guilty and so upset picturing them. I was in that bloody room. I can picture what it would be like to be stuck.”

Quebec politicians criticized Airbnb after a building in old Montreal was used for multiple illegal rentals. There were 15 units in the building. In 2018, Airbnb-style short-term rentals were banned in the area where the building is located. Airbnb was asked by authorities to forbid rentals for people who didn't possess a certificate with Quebec's Revenue Department. Airbnb ignored the request. A lawyer for Benamor lied that Airbnb rentals in the building had nothing to do with his client. Benamor is a lawyer who pleaded guilty to tax evasion. He failed to report income of $469,591 from a "fraudulent scheme." Benamor's law firm is 'Benamor Avocats'. Benamor owned at least 21 Montreal buildings as of 2021 either in his own name, or through EP7 Consultants Inc.

Emile-Haim Benamor's goal was to turn them all into Airbnb rentals. He evicted long term residents to accomplish this. His front man was immigrant Tariq Hasan. He was running 7 Airbnb ads at 135 Rue du Port at the time of the fire. Hasan’s listings on Airbnb and other short-term rental sites have been removed. He is attempting to remove his internet presence.

Child pimp Meaz Nour-Eldin pulls 6 years

Meaz Nour-Eldin, who lured a 15-year-old Indigenous girl into prostitution, goes away for a bargain basement 6 years. He plied the girl with drugs and booze, and punished her with physical and sexual violence. The scumbag, 26, pleaded guilty to one count of trafficking a minor. The girl often slept on a dirty mattress on the kitchen floor of a Surrey crack house. She was forced to see between five and 10 men per night, and had a daily quota of $1,500. Nour-Eldin racked up criminal charges shortly after graduating from a Surrey high school in 2015. He committed a robbery in 2016, and assaulted a cop months later. Here's hoping this filthdog sees general population.

B.C. 'alive woman' lawyer Naomi Arbabi suspended - update

A lawsuit filed by Naomi Arbabi against her neighbour has been dismissed as "frivolous and vexatious". Naomi Arbabi's claim of "trespass" against her neighbour Colleen McLelland was rejected. Arbabi decided McLelland trespassed upon her by obstructing her mountain view when the strata of their Fairview condo building installed a 1.7 metre-high glass divider. Arbabi said she appeared as "a living, breathing, alive woman," not a lawyer. Arbabi will pay special costs to McLelland. Lawyers make a professional oath promising they "will not promote suits upon frivolous pretenses."
The Law Society of British Columbia has suspended lawyer Naomi Arbabi on an interim basis following a complaint that she engaged in "pseudolegal" practices in order to harass her neighbour. Arbabi sued her neighbor in October, seeking $1,000 per day for erecting a 1.7-metre-tall privacy wall on her property that blocked Arbabi's ocean view. Arbabi's first notice of civil claim listed the defendant as "the woman: colleen mclelland," in small letters, and the plaintiff as "the woman: naomi arbabi." Throughout the lawsuit, she used a lower-case "i" to refer to herself. Her 'legal basis' for making the claim is that the suit is "based on law of the land", not any legislation or statute. Arbabi's law firm, Envision Law Group, seems to have gone taters up recently for some reason.
An affidavit of service was filed by a process server who knocked on Arbabi's door. The woman who answered said she was not Naomi Arbabi. The process server found Arbabi's photo online, and confirmed it was the person she'd just met, so she emailed Arbabi to ask for an explanation. Arbabi responded: "When you ask i if i am Naomi Arbabi the answer is always no as Naomi Arbabi is an incorporated name and does not refer to a living breathing woman." She explained that Naomi Arbabi was a "dead entity corporation" created by her birth certificate, and did not really exist.

Six, including brothers Mehmet Faysal Söylemez and Mustafa Söylemez, were detained in connection with the murder. Mustafa Söylemez was found guilty of murder and sentenced to life. Mehmet Faysal Söylemez was cleared on the murder charge but found guilty on other charges.

Police found two Kalashnikovs, a 9mm, magazines and ammo in a stream near the crime scene.
12 people, six in Turkey and six in the north of Cyprus, were arrested in connection with the murder of Halil Falyali. Turkish mob boss Mustafa Söylemez was arrested in Istanbul. The Söylemez Gang is an organized crime group in Turkey headed by Faysal Söylemez and his five brothers. It is involved in drug smuggling, kidnapping, and murder.
Falyali, 64, was a former bodyguard turned casino boss who acculmulated massive wealth through gaming and drug trafficking. Falyali came under the spotlight after exiled Turkish mobster Sedat Peker named him as a key figure in a cocaine ring. Peker implicated Falyali in the seventh of a series of videos he released on social media naming high-ranking government officials in Turkey, as well as Turkish Cypriot politicians and businessmen. Former Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci accused Falyali of blackmailing politicians and money laundering. Akinci said the government in Ankara protected Falyali.
In 2016 the DEA convicted Falyalı and his brother Hüsnü for laundering funds obtained from an international drug trafficking scheme.

Dublin mobster Alan 'Fatpuss' Bradley

Notorious Dublin criminal Alan 'Fatpuss' Bradley last made headlines in 2021 when he gave a brutal beating to a man after misunderstanding a WhatsApp message. Bradley was released from prison in 2018 after trying to steal €1 million from a cash in transit van. He was a lieutenant of murdered boss Eamonn ‘The Don’ Dunne.

The ageing gangster says the latest generation of Irish thugs “are all mad”. The famous criminal has had a number of recent health concerns.
Alan 'Fatpuss' Bradley was under significant jeopardy after a credible threat by a thug linked to the Kinahan Group. A Kinahan crew member fled Ireland to Spain in the wake of garda attention. He left his patch vacant and the Bradley brothers took advantage. They and their associates were targeted. Oz cops explain 253kg of cocaine on beaches

NSW cops have recovered 253 1-kg packages of cocaine since the first appeared on Magenta Beach on December 22. The reason cocaine worth tens of millions is washing onto NSW beaches is explained by cops as a "mother-daughter vessel transfer" gone wrong. Cops say the tactic is nothing new.
The mark-up on cocaine in Australia is much higher than anywhere else in the world. A kilo of cocaine in Sydney was $300k to $350k. It was said to be $170k recently, low by Australian standards.
It's likely the cocaine was attached to the hull of a "mother" cargo ship, and it dislodged at some point, or was lost by a recovery vessel.

Career U.K. lag John Haase pulls 9 years for arson

Liverpool career criminal John Haase committed arson while paroled from prison. He became a debt collector and torched a $70k Range Rover when his target refused to pay. Haase, 74, was caged to serve out the remainder of his 22-year sentence, with 9 more for the arson.
In 2008, Haase was busted for conspiracy to pervert the course of justice. He received a Royal Pardon through fraud. Haase and his nephew told cops about 150 guns supposedly hidden around the UK to secure a reduction in their jail terms. The Home Secretary signed off on the deal, resulting in the early release of the duo who had served 11 months of their 18-year sentences for heroin trafficking.
The judge wasted little on Haase ... "It is as plain as plain could be that you are a dangerous criminal. "When you asserted to me you are not, that can only be described as arrant nonsense." Haase will remain behind bars until June 2030.
