PC Kashif Mahmood

Kashif Mahmood The latest criminal to be convicted from hacked encrypted messaging service EncroChat was a cop. PC Kashif Mahmood, 32, carried out stops on cars he knew to be carrying drug money at the behest of a syndicate. Mahmood would take marked and unmarked police vehicles, and, dressed in his police uniform, travel to locations where the crime group was aware of the transfer of cash. Mahmood would then seize it, under the pretence of his powers as a cop.
At least £850,000 in cash was stolen. The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) said former officer Mahmood was 'audacious, corrupt and criminal'. He pulled 8 years in jail. Drug kingpin Mohsin Khan was sentenced to 16 years for conspiracy to supply class A drugs.
