Vancouver fraudster Mark Chandler

The B.C. Court of Appeal dismissed Chandler’s appeal that he be extradited to the US. Chandler’s lawyers then sought leave to appeal to the Supreme Court of Canada. The top court refused to hear the case and he was sent to face US justice. His legal troubles in California related to a fraudulent condominium project in Los Angeles. Chandler swindled 12 U.S. investors out of $1.7m.
Chandler was busted for fraud following an FBI investigation into a development project known as Hill Street in downtown Los Angeles between 2008 and 2011. He pulled 6 years in a Federal Pen. Chandler is best known in B.C. for the Murrayville House project, which dissolved into dozens of lawsuits in 2017. Some would-be buyers waited years as repeated construction delays stalled the project.
Units in the development were sold to two, three, or even four purchasers. Contracts were voided in court. The project is being investigated by the RCMP. The developer/con man has a long list of lawsuits, including from a jet leasing agency, a Vancouver yacht charter company, a Ferrari Maserati dealership, and a waterfront Hawaii getaway.
