Canada is listing seven transnational criminal organizations, including the Sinaloa Cartel, as terrorist entities under the Criminal Code. Under Canada’s Criminal Code, a terrorist listing also prohibits financing, travel and recruitment. RCMP will have wider powers to “follow the money and to look and see how criminal cartels are using sophisticated laundering tactics.” The move comes one day after 8 crime organizations, including the Sinaola Cartel, were designated as “foreign terrorist organizations” by the U.S. |
