Chapitos on the ropes

The latest high-profile figure to fall within Los Chapitos was Moisés Barnabé Barraza Acosta, aka Berna or Chupón, described by authorities as the “leader of the criminal cell dedicated to contract killings and drug trafficking.” Los Chapitos are the sons of Joaquín ‘El Chapo’ Guzmán. They gained prominance after El Chapo’s fall. They were the faces responsible for flooding U.S. streets with fentanyl and the Americans declared war. The betrayal of El Mayo unleashed a war between his loyalists, known as La Mayiza, and Los Chapitos. Since the dispute erupted on September 9, Sinaloa has recorded 1,369 murders and just as many arrests.

Under pressure from Donald Trump, high profile arrests and seizures have surged in Sinaloa, and particularly hard hit have been Los Chapitos. By the end of May, the Security Ministry reported the arrest of 72 Chapitos compared to 23 Mayitos — a count that doesn’t include those killed. The death of Jorge Humberto Figueroa, aka El Perris, one of Los Chapitos’ top field operators and head of security was another blow.

Iván Archivaldo Guzmán Salazar was very nearly captured on the night of February 19, 2025, the same operation that lassoed his top lieutenants ‘El Güerito’ and ‘El 200’. He escaped through a tunnel and was injured. The fate of Iván Archivaldo Guzmán remains uncertain. He is an extremely high value target and the streets of Culiacán are alive with security forces. Guzmán is on the run and is no longer effectively leading the Sinaloa Cartel. Both remaining Chapitos are under extreme pressure.

It’s said Chapito Iván Archivaldo Guzmán Salazar is living in fear due to increased U.S. heat. The Mexican government’s offensive against his Sinaloa Cartel resulted in the arrest of his two key henchmen. Canobbio Inzunza ‘El Güerito’ led fentanyl trafficking while Kevin Alonso Gil Acosta ‘El 200’ was responsible for security. A $10m USD bounty is up for grabs for the first rat to finger him. Guzmán “no longer sleeps” and is “betraying those closest to him, thinking they will betray him.”

Jose Angel Canobbio Inzunza was arrested in the city of Culiacán. He was the right hand of Iván Archivaldo Guzmán Salazar. Canobbio Inzunza was indicted by a Chicago grand jury in November. Shortly after the U.S. designated the Sinaloa Cartel as a terrorist organization, Canada also designated the Sinaloa Cartel a terrorist organization in the Criminal Code. The Sandher’s Edgar Watson-Olivarra is now considered a terrorist.

Anybody doing business with terrorist Edgar Watson stands to be extradited to America. Cops may start with the Sandhers.

Bir Singh Sandher
Top Sinaloa cartel operative Edgar Watson-Olivarra met with the Sandher crime family again the week of August 21, 2024 in Kelowna. He is a key member of the Sandher drug operation.

The thug is senior management and directly responsible for Sinaloa Cartel operations and multiple drug lab busts in B.C. Edgar Watson is a former Mexican Marine who was never on the right side of the law. He learned combat helicopter flying with the Marines. Watson tipped off drug raids for bribes that often exceeded a year’s salary. Watson soon worked for the Sinaloa Cartel full-time. As well as being a cartel pilot, Edgar Watson was also an enforcer/sicario. He protected cartel bosses and their lieutenants from enemies. His loyalty to the cartel paid off. He was brought into Canada to manage Sinaloa affairs. Watson oversees much of Canada. When he sets foot in Canada he is the most senior Sinaloa gangster in the country. When disputes arise, it is Edgar Watson who resolves them, often using murder. Watson answers only to Iván Archivaldo Guzmán Salazar. Edgar Watson is seeking permanent residency in Canada, sponsored by his mother, Canadian permanent resident the black witch. She works full-time for the Sinaloa Cartel and has for years. She resides in the Lower Mainland.

Chapito Iván Archivaldo Guzmán Salazar is widely recognized as the leader of the Sinaloa Cartel.
