Indo Brampton fraud ring busted - Project Outsource

Project Outsource resulted in the seizure of six guns and some $4.2 million in assets, including 18 tow trucks, four personal vehicles, including a Lamborghini SUV, along with five stolen vehicles. Police laid 97 criminal charges related to extortion, fraud, firearms and organized crime. The gang was being run by two bosses, Paritosh Chopra, 32 and Inderjit Dhami, 38, both from Brampton. They are charged with a slew of offences ranging from participating in a criminal organization, instructing offences and pointing a firearm.Gangsters operated with two distinct, but interconnected components: one dedicated to extortion through violence and the other rooted in the towing industry. Dirty companies were fingered as Certified Roadside and Humble Roadside. Staged accidents often net the gang $80-100K each.

Extortion involved South-Asian business owners and involved demands for payment of between $100K and $1m under the threat that should they not pay, arson or shootings would befall them, their business, homes and loved ones. In 2024, there was a shooting at a Brampton residence related to extortion threats. The gun used and the man suspected of carrying it out were both on display.
