Mathew and Isaac Auchterlonie - Bank robbers shot dead

The men had no criminal records.

22-year old twins from Duncan, Mathew and Isaac Auchterlonie are the bank robbers shot dead in a Saanich BMO attempted robbery. Six cops were taken to hospital after the shootout. Three were released.

'Ndrangheta boss Vittorio Raso busted in Spanish traffic stop

Vittorio Raso was released from custody by mistake two years ago after being arrested in Spain on a warrant from Italian cops, who wanted him for organized crime, extortion and drug trafficking. The National Court of Spain released him over a warrant mix-up. 43-year-old Raso's freedom lasted until June 21 when his car was stopped in Castelldefels during a routine check by Spanish police. Raso's forged papers were revealed as fakes and he was busted.

Harb Dhaliwal killer sentenced - 20 years

Francois Joseph Gauthier, 53, had been charged with first degree murder in the execution of Brothers Keepers gangster Harb Dhaliwal but pleaded guilty to the lesser offence of second-degree murder. On the night of April 17, 2021, Gauthier used a semi-automatic handgun with a silencer to shoot Dhaliwal 10 times, including twice in the back of the head. Two in the Dhaliwal group chased and stabbed Gauthier multiple times, including in the eye. Bleeding profusely, Gauthier was cornered in a condo courtyard where cops found him.

Harb Dhaliwal, 31, was shot at point blank range in the 1500-block of Coal Harbour Quay. The Brothers Keepers are linked to HA Hardside chapter, and are embroiled in a street war with the UN, as well as the Kang/Red Scorpion gang.

Of 31 gang-related murders in 2019 seven had a link to the Brothers Keepers either as a suspect or a victim.

Harb Dhaliwal was injured in two previous shootings — one in 2017 and another in 2018. Elder brother Barinder “Shrek” Dhaliwal was held back by Vancouver cops. Youngest brother Meninder was said to be present. All 3 gangsters are well known to cops.

CEO Feras Antoon and COO David Tassillo have resigned after more than a decade running Pornhub. Their exit comes after The New Yorker released a scathing story about the company. The New Yorker story chronicled the heartbreaking plight of a 15-year-old UK girl struggling to have explicit videos removed from the company's websites that were uploaded without her consent. The porn merchant's response? "Instead, they chose to ignore the fact that MindGeek has more comprehensive and effective policies than any other major platform on the internet, and decided to peddle the same gross mischaracterizations that anti-porn extremists have spewed for decades." There have been no arrests in the arson of the mansion of Feras Antoon.

The $19m Montreal mansion of PornHub founder Feras Antoon was destroyed by fire only three days after he put it up for sale.

"Could the extreme religious groups have incited and encouraged someone to do this? Absolutely."

It took 80 firefighters three hours to get the fire under control. It began inside the mansion. Pornhub faced strong backlash over the site showing videos of child abuse and nonconsensual sex. The site eventually removed a majority of its content — millions of explicit videos.For years victims of child porn, revenge porn, rape and sexual assault said that Pornhub ruined their lives.

Yizhak Abergil - life plus 30 years

An Israeli court sentenced crime kingpin Yizhak Abergilto to three life sentences plus 30 years for the 2003 killing of three bystanders in an attempt on the life of Ze'ev Rosenstein, a rival in the mob underworld. Abergil was found guilty of heading a crime organization with seven of his underlings.

Avi Ruhan, Abergil's right-hand man, was sentenced to 25 years in prison for attempted murder and running a criminal organization. In May 2012, Abergil pleaded guilty to being part of a major ecstasy network. Authorities charged him and his brother Meir with running a huge drug ring in the US. He was returned to Israel to complete his 7 year sentence in 2013. The Abergil crime family was one the largest criminal organizations in Israel until its power waned with the arrests of Yitzhak and Meir. In the 1990s the organization waged a bloody war with mobster Ze’ev Rosenstein and his Abutbul organization. The conflict was tied to a long string of underworld hits and attempted assassinations across the country.

Major Carvalho 'Brazil's Pablo Escobar' reeled in

Sérgio Roberto De Carvalho, 64 is known as 'Major Carvalho' – a nod to his former career in the Brazilian Army. He was the subject of an Interpol Red Notice for drug trafficking, money laundering, document fraud and homicide. Carvalho was arrested living under a fake identity in Hungary. In 2021, Brazilian police forced the landing of a Turkish jet that had taken off from a small airport in Ribeirao Preto and seized 1.3 tonnes of cocaine. Carvalho was one of the traffickers behind the operation.The Turkish press asked how a former state-owned jet of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan ended up stuffed with drugs and impounded in Brazil.

After being arrested in Spain under a fake name in 2020, Carvalho disappeared. He later faked his own death, sending a certificate to Spanish authorities. Brazilian authorities found numerous assets. Cops seized a van containing 12m euros parked in a Lisbon garage. Much of his operation was run from Dubai, where his right-hand man, Marcelo Maghenzani maintained an office.

Maghenzani was arrested in May 2021.

“The Sopranos” took inspiration from the DeCavalcantes. The DeCavalcantes were taken down in 2015 by New Jersey cop Giovanni Rocco. 'Giovanni Gatto' Rocco posed as a biker to snare capo Charlie 'The Hat' Stango and others. Rocco spent three years working his way up the ranks and collecting evidence to convict a dozen gangsters.

The downfall of the DeCavalcante family began in 1998, when associate Ralph Guarino became an FBI rat to avoid a long prison sentence after a heist of $1.6m from the World Trade Center. Between 1999-2005, about 45 were jailed, including the family's consigliere and seven capos. In March 2017 Stango was sentenced to 10 years in prison for conspiracy to commit murder. In 2016, Anthony Stango Jr. was sentenced to 6 years in prison. With the final fall of the DeCavalcante family, New York's five families took over many of the rackets in New Jersey.

Dutch godfather Holleeder life sentence upheld

Willem Holleeder, the Netherlands most notorious gangster, was found guilty of ordering a series of murders in 2019. Holleeder, now 64, achieved notoriety in the 1980s for the kidnapping of beer tycoon Freddy Heineken. The prosecution case relied on the testimony of his sister, Astrid, who made secret recordings of their conversations. The Amsterdam Appeals Court said it "took into account the cold and unscrupulous way in which Holleeder, together with others in a criminal organization, decided on life and death."

Eugene 'Boobsie' Castelle tries, tries again

If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again. That appears to be the mantra of Staten Island mobster Eugene 'Boobsie' Castelle. He's taking another stab at early release, his third. This time he's blaming his lawyer.

A judge denied the bid of Staten Island mobster Eugene 'Boobsie' Castelle to cut his prison sentence, saying the wise guy has only himself to blame for refusing a plea deal and opting for trial. The soldier for the Luchese family tried to claim he misunderstood the deal. He decided the plea deal he rejected was what we wanted all along. Castelle faces between 30 to 40 months behind bars on a gambling charge. He is currently free on a $1m bond.

The mobster tried to claim a threat from Covid in jail. That claim was dismissed. Castelle was convicted in 2019 for racketeering conspiracy and running an illegal gambling house. In 2008, he had completed an 88-month sentence for racketeering conspiracy. He was sentenced to 77 months in a federal penitentary, a three-year supervised release, $100k fine and forfeiture of $188,955 in criminal proceeds. Along with getting a conviction against Boobsie the feds also showcased the inner working of the Lucchese family. The fed's snitch John Pennisi took the stand and testified about the crime family's inner workings and acting boss Michael DeSantis.

Gregory Woolley being sent a message - update

Gregory Woolley, closely tied to both the Montreal mafia and the Hells Angels, was targeted during two incidents in the past month. Bullet holes were found in a neighbor's house and last week shell casings were found after shots rang out beside his property. Considered "the godfather" of Montreal street gangs, Woolley changed the landscape of the drug trade in Montreal. Its said the home has been put up for sale for $3.8m. Woolley was released in November 2020 after a five-year sentence for gangsterism.

One of those busted in a weapons trafficking operation was Daniel Charleus. He is close to blues gang leader Jean-Philippe Célestin. Charleus served as a contact to sell guns to Célestin. Célestin is closely tied to Gregory Woolley. Cops seized four handguns, a fully automatic long gun, ammunition and more than $50,000 in cash. Firearms sold by the group are suspected in the countless shootings that have taken place in the metropolis in recent months.

Ex-HA bikie Dennis Basic guilty

Ex-Hells Angel bikie Dennis Basic, 42, was sentenced to 26 months and 14 days in prison for a dozen offences including assaulting an emergency worker, animal cruelty and recklessly causing injury. He was jailed for throwing a heavy bollard at a mounted officer and hitting a police horse in the head during separate protests in Melbourne in 2020 and 2021. While wielding a 'resist' flag, Basic used the flagpole to hit a police horse in the head multiple times. Cops subsequently searched his home and found illegal weapons.

While on bail, Basic attended another anti-lockdown protest in July 2021 where he threw an orange traffic bollard across the crowd and hit a cop mounted on a horse. The judge called Basic's actions “unwarranted, disrespectful and appalling” and said the attacks were "dangerous, unprovoked and completely lawless”. In 2007 Basic was involved in helping HA bikies try to blow up the Nitro Gym, owned by Comancheros president Michael Murray. Dennis Basic is described as chronic unemployed and living off his ex-wife's money. The judge said Basic's rehabilitation prospects were "highly problematic".

A mural of Conor McGregor painted on the side of a house ultimately helped bring down Liverpool dealer Ryan Palin. Palin, 36, was found guilty of conspiracy to supply 700kg of cocaine, 15kg of heroin and 40kg of meth during a hearing at Liverpool Crown Court. Palin, ‘Titch.com’ uploaded the mural from his phone onto EncroChat. The loot when he was busted was extensive. Assets including £129k in watches, and £135k in designer clothes. Its a significant 29 years in prison for a man who refused to plead guilty despite being busted cold.
