US sanctions Kinahan Cartel - update V

The Kinahans are said to be furious at caged Johnny Morrissey for going against their instructions on how to launder their drug money. Cop intelligence sources say boss Daniel Kinahan blames Morrissey for drawing attention with his high-profile Nero Vodka company. Morrissey, 62 was pinched by Spain’s Guardia Civil in September. Morrissey and wife Nicola, Nero Vodka’s CEO, hosted lavish bashes.
Nicola was released.

Nicola gave interviews about how the business was expanding into the US.
One of the couple’s promotions was a Gladiator-themed party, held at Marbella’s five-star Puente Romano Hotel. Last year Nero Vodka sponsored a UK gangster movie, Rise Of The Footsoldier 4.

Daniel Kinahan resided on Dubai’s Palm Jumeirah.
The Criminal Assets Bureau in Ireland served proceedings on Daniel Kinahan at addresses in the USA and Dubai by registered mail. The High Court granted an order allowing it after gardai said it would be difficult to do so personally. They aim to sell off the luxury Dublin mansion at 10 Coldwater Lakes, in Saggart, Dublin which they say is owned and controlled by Kinahan.
Those who breach sanctions imposed on mob boss Daniel Kinahan and his associates face fines of up to $1m and a maximum 20 years in a US prison. US banks and companies cannot do business with the Kinahan crime group anywhere in the world. Christy Kinahan and his sons may already have been charged during US court proceedings under a sealed indictment.

MTK Global shut down.

Daniel Kinahan, Christopher Kinahan Jr and Christopher Kinahan Sr
The UAE has frozen the assets of the Kinahan cartel. The asset freeze includes all personal and corporate bank accounts in the kingdom. Two companies, Hoopoe Sports and Ducashew General Trading, are based in Dubai. Among the seven individuals and companies sanctioned by the US Treasury is Daniel Kinahan, his father Christy, and brother Christopher Jr. The DEA has offered rewards of up to $5m for information leading to the arrest of any of the three Kinahans. The Kinahan cartel is one of the world's largest crime groups. The gang, which used Dubai as a HQ for its business, operates in Ireland, the UK, Spain and the United Arab Emirates. The intervention of the US is seen as a major blow to their operation.
Daniel Kinahan has become a figure in boxing circles. Despite Kinahan's well known links to the drug trade, boxing chiefs have defended his involvement with the sport. World Boxing Council President Mauricio Sulaimán offered his "full backing" to the Irish drug kingpin. On April 8 Kinahan claimed any allegations of criminality are part of a smear campaign against him and his family. Thomas "Bomber" Kavanagh, the top man in the UK for the Kinahans, was jailed for 21 years.
Sean McGovern, 36, was wounded in the attack at the Regency Hotel. He is described by the US as “Daniel Kinahan’s advisor and closest confidant”. It further states that “evidence indicates that all dealings with Daniel Kinahan go through Sean McGovern”. McGovern's house in Crumlin, Dublin, was seized in 2020. He subsequently moved to Dubai.

Dubliner Ian Dixon, 32 is also in Dubai. He is described as a key man. Dixon “owns or controls, directly or indirectly” the Hoopoe Sports company in UAE.
Bernard Patrick Clancy, 44, is in Dubai and Spain. He is a key lieutenant of the Kinahan cartel.

John ‘Johnny’ Morrissey, 62, Spain. The US says Morrissey is involved in money laundering. Morrissey is the owner or controller of the Scottish-based Nero Drinks Company Ltd, which sells luxury alcoholic drinks and is one of the three companies on the US sanctions list. Morrissey uses his wife to front his operation.

Daniel Kinahan's cartel under pressure

Italian mafioso Raffaele Imperiale, 46, has been added to Italy's most wanted list. He is a top level boss of the Naples-based Camorra. Italian cops have been seeking his arrest since 2016. They consider him to be one of the country’s largest drug traffickers. Imperiale attended cartel boss Daniel Kinahan’s wedding in Dubai, and is thought to be hiding out there. The DEA identified Imperiale, Ridouan Taghi, Edin Gačanin (a Bosnian drug trafficker) and Daniel Kinahan as the heads of a ‘super drug cartel.’ Ridouan Taghi is on trial for organizing seven murders.
The cartel is one of the world’s largest, with a virtual monopoly of the Peruvian cocaine trade. Richard “El Rico” Vega, 47, was sentenced to 11 years in jail for operating an assassination ring and laundering drug money. “The Rich One” was once a frequent contact of Kinahan.
Most recently Kinahan was formally served with a US racketeering summons in his Dubai bolthole.
It's the first time his security cordon in the UAE has been breached. It's highly unlikely Kinahan would voluntarily touch US soil. The legal matter is related to boxer Jo Jo Diaz.

Kinahan gangster Liam Byrne will suffer 'inhumane treatment' in UK jail - lawyer

Liam Byrne, a key cog of the Kinahan crime gang, has claimed his extradition to the UK from Spain should be rejected because he risks "inhumane and degrading treatment" in a U.K. prison. Byrne's lawyer said there is a 'real risk' that his client's fundamental right to 'physical and moral integrity' will be in danger if his extradition to the UK proceeds. Byrne was lassoed at a Spanish restaurant in June 2023. His lawyer says extradition would violate human rights because the only evidence against his client are hacked messages on encrypted communications network Encrochat. A separate extradition appeal for Kinahan gangster Jack Kavanagh was also held last week. Spanish prosecutors backed the extradition of both men, who are wanted on gun trafficking charges. Kavanagh was arrested at Malaga Airport on May 30th while in-transit from Dubai to Turkey.
As for the Kinahans, most are still thought to be in the UAE. Daniel Kinahan, 46, his brother Christopher, 42, and associate Sean McGovern, 37, are holed up in the country. The net is apparently closing with Ireland's Justice Minister recently promising to extradite them after high level meetings with UAE officials.

Richard Eduardo Riquelme Vega - the Rich One

There's more trouble in paradise for Richard Eduardo Riquelme Vega. 'El Rico' (the Rich One) Evidence against him comes from Blackberry phones found on Kinahan associate Naoufal ‘Belly’ Fassih in April 2016. One message saw El Rico email Fassih in Dublin about “500 kilos” they planned to deliver to “that snake”, a reference to another Dutch criminal. The torso of 23-year-old Moroccan Nabil Amzieb was discovered in a burning car.
Vega was arrested in a Santiago hotel in 2017 after ariving from Dubai. He’s wanted in Holland, where a brutal turf war culminated with a severed head being found on an Amsterdam street.
El Rico is believed to be on the top rung of the gang responsible for the beheading and is the right-hand man of Naoufal Fassih, who was arrested in Dublin in a Kinahan safe house. At least 16 people have died in the Netherlands, Belgium and Spain in related underworld killings since March 2012, when a Dutch gang known as the Turtles stole cocaine worth £14m, part of a larger shipment – much of it destined for the British market. Known as "the most dangerous Chilean in the world", El Rico and his Moroccan associates in the Netherlands have forged tight links with the Kinahan mob. The Dublin-based Kinahans are key players in the trade.
Crime boss Christy Kinahan
The arrest of El Rico was another major blow to the Kinahans. Over 18 months, police seized €4m in cash, €55m in drugs and 40 firearms.

With the chain of the distribution broken, organized crime groups will need to reorganize as they look for new supply. Police fear the potential chaos of a drug feud. Prices of cocaine soared for dealers and users. Drug barons in Glasgow can currently buy 98 percent pure cocaine for up to £42,000 a kilo. It is heavily cut and by the time it’s sold for £35 to £55 a gram on the streets, its purity can be less than 10%.

Daniel Kinahan 'running out of road' in race to escape UAE - update

Sky Sports presenter Matthew Macklin was banned from boarding a flight to the US. The former boxing world title contender was due to fly to Las Vegas. His links to Kinahan mean he is now persona non gratia in the United States. Macklin's ties to Daniel Kinahan are extensive. He initially co-founded MTK boxing management in 2012 with the Irishman, who once described Macklin as his best friend.
Measures announced by Dubai mirror American sanctions, which means nobody in the kingdom can do business with them. Technically, not even supermarkets can serve them. UAE authorities no longer want the traffickers from the Kinahan Cartel in their country. It is increasingly likely they will be arrested and extradited to Ireland to face charges. A second possibility is that the UAE will hand the men over to the US. Its said the $5m rewards have resulted in an avalanch of rats and new material for cops to pursue. The Kinahans will need to act quickly ... the prospect of spending the rest of their lives at Florence ADMAX is growing.

Raffaele 'Lelluccio' Imperiale - hands over UAE island

Imperiale bought the island, named Taiwan, while in hiding. Its value is estimated at €60m-€80m. It is part of an artificial archipelago off the coast of the United Arab Emirates called “The World”. Imperiale faces 15 years in jail and has been demonstrating his willingness to cooperate in the hope of receiving a reduced sentence.
Raffaele Imperiale, a member of the Neapolitan Camorra, is telling cops all he knows. Imperiale’s decision to rat took place in October. He has made statements against at least two, one of them being mob boss Daniel Kinahan, who has any number of investigations, including being the target of a DEA and US Treasury Department investigation for which there is a $5M reward. Imperiale attended Kinahan’s wedding at the Burj Al Arab hotel in Dubai in 2017. He is one of the leaders of a ‘super cartel’.
Also turning rat is Bruno Carbone, 45, who was busted with Imperiale in Dubai.
Italian Justice Minister Marta Cartabia went to Dubai to request, for the third time, the extradition of Camorra drug trafficker Raffaele Imperiale, number two on Italy’s most wanted list. She was successful and Imperiale was flown to Rome. Imperiale was arrested last summer in Dubai at Italy’s request. In January, the United Arab Emirates rejected Italy’s second request for his extradition. Imperiale was wanted for years by Italian cops. He is a member of the Amato-Pagano clan and is one of the most powerful drug traffickers in the world. He is closely linked to Daniel Kinahan. The extradition application for the mobster stated that he was a member of a 'Super Cartel' along with Kinahan, Balkan mob boss Edin Gacanin and the caged Ridouan Taghi.
Top Camorra narco Raffaele Imperiale, 46, was arrested in Dubai on August 4 2022.
Imperiali has been on the run since 2016, living a hugely lavish life in the UAE. The DEA exposed a global drug cartel headed by Imperiale, Ridouan Taghi, Daniel Kinahan and Edin Gačanin. The group was observed by the DEA having meetings in the Burj Al Arab hotel in Dubai, it's base of operations.
In 2016, two Van Gogh paintings stolen in 2002 from an Amsterdam museum were found stashed in a farmhouse on property owned by Imperiale near Naples.

Gerry 'The Monk' Hutch

On-the-run Dublin gangster Gerry Hutch would be killed by enemies or arrested if he was spotted in Ireland. Five years ago the Hutch gang stormed a boxing weigh-in at the Regency Hotel to murder rival Daniel Kinahan. Hutch is officially wanted for the murder of David Byrne.
Hutch in disguise leaving the funeral for his brother Eddie.
The gunmen failed to kill their main target as Kinahan and his top henchmen escaped through a back door. The Monk fled Ireland weeks after. The event would become a pivotal episode in the Hutch-Kinahan war and sparked a wave of retaliatory murders. A cycle of bloodshed resulted in 14 murders over the next two years.

Drug trafficker David Byrne was shot dead.
Daniel Kinahan reinvented himself from drug kingpin to boxing promoter and has suggested he will never return to Ireland from his bolthole in Dubai. The 43-year-old issued a lengthy statement in which he claims to be “a legitimate and respected businessman”

Gardai believe Hutch has been lying low in Spain, Portugal and Turkey. Every law enforcement agency in Europe is now aware he’s a wanted man so he’s under serious pressure. The veteran criminal has a €1m bounty on his head by the Kinahan cartel.
