Michael Hans Bopfinger misunderstood, not - Update

Bopfinger has been picked up by cops, to the great relief of residents.

Michael Hans Bopfinger, 47, is wanted by cops in Vernon in connection with a gun incident on July 23. Bopfinger is wanted for assault, uttering threats and firearms-related offences. He commented on his own wanted poster. Vernon cops posted his mugshot July 25, and Bopfinger responded to comments under his photo. When someone commented: "A real beauty!" ... Bopfinger replied: "You don't know anything about the hole situation (sic)." In 2017 Bopfinger was an on the run sex offender. He was handed 11 years in 2011 for brutal sexual assaults on three Vernon sex trade workers.

Bopfinger says he has drug and mental problems. That is likely true. In 2020 he faced charges for causing unnecessary pain and suffering to an animal.

Judge rules Visa facilitated child porn - Pornhub

Visa facilitated child pornography being distributed by providing payment services to Pornhub and other sites operated by parent company MindGeek, a judge has ruled. A judge denied Visa's request to be dismissed from a case where 34 women who said that Pornhub had hosted videos of them being sexually assaulted or abused as children without their consent. The judge found that 'Visa knew that MindGeek's websites were teeming with monetized child porn.' Billionaire Bill Ackman slammed Visa for failing to ban payments to the site.

A Visa spokesman responded ... 'Visa condemns sex trafficking, sexual exploitation, and child sexual abuse materials as repugnant to our values and purpose as a company.' Montreal-based MindGeek owns more than 100 pornographic sites, including Pornhub, RedTube, Tube8 and YouPorn, and sees some 3.5 billion visits each month. The porn merchant has faced backlash since the New York Times published an article in December 2020 which accused Pornhub of posting illegal content. 'Why does Canada host a company that inflicts rape videos on the world?,' wrote a Times columnist.

Charles Nakoff Jr., 34, was arrested in July 2020 along with his wife on multiple child pornography-related charges. He was originally charged with transportation of child pornography, receipt of visual depictions of real minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct, and possession of child pornography. Prosecutors said the sick basterd had “approximately 1,492 video files depicting child exploitation..." That would be 30 years in the Federal Pen without parole for this subhuman garbage and good riddance. Visa claimes the people who posted the victims’ underage images and made money caused harm, not gasp, Visa for rewarding the basterds.

Polo playing aristocrat a hit man

Matteo Costacurta, 38, is accused of shooting an underworld figure involved in a case of extortion in Rome. Costacurta was a member of the Roma Polo Club. The incident started when mobster Alessio Marzani demanded hush money for hiding drugs that belonged to another crime boss and staying silent about it while in jail. To avoid paying €1k per month, Costacurta is accused of accepting a €30k payment to carry out a hit on Marzani.

Costacurta turned to Albanian crime boss Elvis Demce and the two tracked down Marzani.

The judge described Costacurta as possessing a 'malice that seemed to go beyond the economic objectives of his criminal activity'. He is the scion of a noble Venetian family, with the case gaining huge traction in Italy.

Doctors beat feds in $500m pill mill case

Six doctors were charged with cheating Medicare and Medicaid out of almost $500m. The scheme was focused within three pain clinics owned and operated by Dr. Rajendra Bothra, 81. The government told jurors that Bothra was a greedy pill pusher who ran his business like a McDonald's drive thru: pull up, get your pain meds, and go home. Bothra's lawyer countered that Bothra was a legitimate pain specialist who helped the elderly manage pain when no one else would. "You don't prosecute McDonalds for selling hamburgers. You don't prosecute KFC for selling chicken. And you shouldn't convict an interventional pain physician for doing his job and issuing prescriptions for people in pain."

The trial strategy worked. A federal jury acquitted Bothra and three other doctors of all charges. The doctors prescribed 13,217,987 doses of opioids, including OxyContin, Vicodin, hydrocodone and Percocet. The conspiracy cost Medicare more than $182.5m, $272.6m to Medicaid and $9.2m to Blue Cross/Blue Shield.

Spanish ATM thieves strike

Four thieves in Madrid blew up an ATM in the La Elipa neighbourhood on July 31, at 7 am. They set off an explosive device inside a BBVA bank ATM machine, then proceeded to loot the banknotes, leaving some on the ground, eagerly taken by neighbours from the area.

'Greedy' cocaine dealing UK lesbians sunk

Defense lawyers claim the women were in 'the ravages of an addiction' and sold drugs to pay off a debt to dealers. After their two-year, eight month prison sentence, the women will need to repay their ill-gotten gains.

Katie Barrington, 29, and Trenae Greenland, 30, earned £100 a day on a weekday and £200 on weekends selling cocaine. The loot went into designer gear and expensive vacations. The couple admitted possession of cocaine with intent to supply, being concerned in the supply of cocaine, and possession of criminal property.

Shahin Behroyan - crooked realtor shot down by high court

In January 2015, Shahin Behroyan decided he would get a $75k bonus, on top of his usual commission. In May 2016, Behroyan’s licence was suspended for one year and he was ordered to pay a fine of $7,500 plus $59k in enforcement costs. He appealed. The council then said his licence should be cancelled for five years, plus a $10k fine. The second disciplinary committee agreed and Behroyan lost his licence. Undaunted, Behroyan lauched a lawsuit in BCSC claming he had been abused.

Behroyan’s professional misconduct was connected with the sale of a $2.7m home in November of 2014.

Teresa Decotiis

By telling the sellers that the bonus was for the buyer’s agent, Teresa Decotiis, and not himself – and that the offer to buy the property was contingent on that bonus being paid, Behroyan’s action constituted “deceptive dealing” and was a breach of his duty to act honestly. Behroyan didn't tell the sellers that Teresa Decotiis agreed to split her commission with him. The judge wasn't impressed ... “Mr. Behroyan cannot now complain that the very process he wanted should be considered arbitrary and unreasonable simply because he is dissatisfied with the result.” Behroyan lost with costs.

Service Ontario employees among 28 busted in auto-theft rings

215 stolen cars have been recovered and 28 have been charged, including an unspecified number of Service Ontario employees, in connection with the dismantling of three auto-theft rings. Service Ontario employees assisted with the “illegitimate registration of stolen vehicles.” 242 charges were laid. Offences include using a forged document, trafficking in property obtained by crime, fraud over $5,000, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and breach of trust.

The first ring was based in Peel Region and altered VINs from vehicles stolen in Ontario and then reselling them. The second group was based in Durham Region and Toronto. This network fraudulently registered stolen vehicles in Saskatchewan, transferred fraudulent vehicle documents to Ontario, registered the vehicles and resold them. Police say these vehicles were also sold to other criminals. The 3rd ring was based in York Region and dealt primarily with high-end stolen vehicles.
